Story.
Once upon a time, in a warm summer night Tobi and Markus were supposed to
drop some tracks in the studio for the new Dorians album. But they decided
rather to hang out in one of those nice beer gardens than to work on the
tracks in the hot studio. Tobi was talking about a producer who had been to
Nashville doing awesome recordings with a Danish singer and they both agreed
that this was some really cool story. A minute later they were sure that
exactly this was something which had to be done immediately. Markus had been
writing a few easy country songs, they made a choice and started the
pre-recordings a few days later on.
Sure, what they needed was a cool name for the project, they didn’t really
want to call it “Markus & Tobi”, so Markus was just renamed KAShEW which
sounded at least some kind of country :-)
Around half a year later, the guys met at the Stuttgart airport heading
straight on to Atlanta; GA. They rented a camper and made their way through
the ‘heart of country’ to Nashville, TN, the music city. Arriving in front
of the County Q studios the two greenhorns handed in their
look-a-like-country-songs and the next day the real Nashville top dogs Don
Kerce, Tony Paoletter, Pat McGrath and James Marshall started recording ten
songs for “Come with me”.
For the rest of Tobi’s and Markus’ trip they hit the road down to Memphis,
said Hi to Elvis and sneaked in the Sun Studio.
Once they were back in gold old Europe Markus did the vocals, Tobi dropped
a few cool guitar lines and about one year after this warm summer night
KAShEW’s debut album was finished in fall 2005.
Now, it’s up to you to buy it and get that special feel of this
European-sounding-Nashville-country record :-)
