Have furniture you'd like to consign? Kashew makes it easy to connect you with local dealers who can sell your items on their showroom floor. Here is everything you need to know.
What is consignment?
Consignment is when you give your furniture to a dealer or store to sell on your behalf. When the item sells, you and the dealer split the proceeds according to whatever agreement you make together. It is a great option if you have quality furniture that you'd rather have professionals sell for you.
Kashew's role
Kashew only facilitates the matching between you (the consignor) and local stores. We help you submit your items and notify nearby dealers — but we do not take part in the consignment process itself. We do not handle pickup, pricing, contracts, or sales of consigned items.
Once a dealer accepts your request, everything that follows — the consignment terms, split, pickup logistics, and communication — is arranged directly between you and the dealer.
Kashew does not charge a fee for this service.
No guarantee of acceptance
Submitting a consignment request does not guarantee that a store will accept your items. Dealers review each request individually and decide based on their own criteria — including item type, brand, condition, and how far the pickup location is from their store.
Consignment requests are shared with all eligible dealers in your area, but it is ultimately up to them whether to accept.
Upload clear photos of each item (the more, the better)
Add the brand name if you know it
Include a link to the original product listing if available
Add any other helpful information (condition, age, dimensions, etc.)
You can add multiple items in a single request
Step 2 – Enter pickup information:
Provide the address where the items are located
Indicate the floor, whether there is an elevator or stairs, and any other access details
Add any special instructions for pickup
Step 3 – Add your contact information:
Your name, email, and phone number so the accepting dealer can reach you
What happens next?
After you submit your consignment request:
You receive a confirmation email acknowledging your submission
Nearby dealers are notified – All dealers within 50 miles of your pickup address are notified via email and in-app notifications so they can review your items
A dealer accepts your request – If a dealer is interested, they will accept the request. You will receive an email letting you know
You coordinate directly with the dealer – The dealer will contact you using the phone number or email you provided to discuss pricing, pickup, and the consignment terms
Where to find your submitted consignments
You can view and track all of your submitted consignment requests on your Your Listings page. This page shows the status of each request, including whether it has been accepted by a dealer or is still pending.
Tips for a successful consignment
Take great photos – Clear, well-lit photos from multiple angles help dealers evaluate your items quickly
Be descriptive – Include brand names, materials, dimensions, and any damage or wear. The more details, the faster a dealer will respond
Price awareness – Research what similar items sell for so you can have an informed conversation with the dealer
Respond promptly – When a dealer reaches out, respond quickly to finalize the arrangement
What if no dealer accepts?
Consignment requests expire after a set period. If no dealer accepts your request, you can:
Resubmit with updated photos or more details
Consider listing the items yourself on Kashew or another platform
Try reaching out directly to other dealers in your area
