Smart Discount is a single setting that does the work of three different sales tools at once. You pick a small built-in percentage (we recommend 10%) and Kashew quietly uses it across the entire buyer journey — to recover lost carts, win over interior designers, and accept reasonable offers on your behalf — without you having to do anything else.
Sellers who turn it on typically see a meaningful lift in conversion on items that would otherwise sit in carts and favorites without ever closing. This article walks through exactly what happens when you enable it, where to configure it, and how it interacts with other Kashew features.
When Smart Discount is on, three things happen automatically:
If a buyer sends an offer that falls within your Smart Discount percentage, Kashew accepts it on the spot — same minute, no email back-and-forth. The buyer's card is charged, the order is created, and you get a confirmed sale.
This is the same behavior as the legacy "Accept offers automatically" setting, and the two are treated as equivalent. If either is enabled and the offer fits, it auto-accepts.
When a shopper adds your item to their cart, hearts it, or asks a question on the listing, Kashew sends them a private, time-limited offer at your Smart Discount rate. The email contains a one-click checkout link that already has the discount baked in — the buyer just enters payment and they're done.
These are buyers who have already shown clear intent. A small nudge at the right moment closes a meaningful percentage of them.
Kashew offers verified trade members (interior designers, stagers, and industry professionals) a small discount to encourage repeat, bulk-style buying. Normally Kashew funds that discount out of its own commission. When you have Smart Discount on, the trade member instead gets your Smart Discount rate — your store becomes more attractive to designers without Kashew layering an extra discount on top of your listing price.
Smart Discount lives in two places:
You can also turn it on across all of your stores at once from the Discounts tab, which is the fastest way to roll it out if you sell from multiple shops.
The default is 10%, and you can pick anything between 5% and 50%. Most stores find the sweet spot between 10% and 15% — high enough to convert hesitant shoppers, low enough that it does not erode your margins.
No — Smart Discount only kicks in when it actually helps you sell.
In other words, Smart Discount is opportunistic. It is not a sitewide markdown — it is a quiet, targeted tool that only activates in scenarios where the alternative is no sale.
Smart Discount is designed to never stack with other promotions or codes on the same line item. Kashew always applies the most-favorable discount for the buyer and avoids double-counting:
On your Sales page, every order that closed through Smart Discount — whether through an auto-accepted offer, a limited-time email link, or a trade member checkout — is tagged with a Smart Discount badge. If the same order also came from a promotion campaign, the promotion badge takes priority.
Can I keep "Accept offers automatically" on instead of Smart Discount?
Yes — the two are treated as equivalent for offer-acceptance and trade-member behavior. Smart Discount adds the limited-time email offers and the unified configuration on top, which "Accept offers automatically" alone does not do.
Will buyers see a "Smart Discount" label on my listings?
No. Smart Discount is invisible to buyers browsing your store at full price. They only encounter the discount when it is actively offered to them — through an email, a trade-member checkout, or an offer they sent.
Can I turn it off later?
Yes, at any time. Toggling it off in your store settings or on a specific listing immediately stops new Smart Discount triggers. Sales that already came through stay tagged in your order history.
What happens if I change my percentage?
The new percentage applies to every Smart Discount trigger going forward. Any limited-time email link that was already sent uses the rate it was signed at — buyers cannot change it after the fact.
