How consignment requests work

Kashew connects individuals who want to consign furniture and home goods with local dealers who can sell those items on their behalf. Here is a complete overview of how the process works from a seller's perspective.

Kashew's role

Kashew only facilitates the matching between consignors and stores. We notify you when someone nearby submits items for consignment, but we do not take part in the consignment process itself — we do not handle pricing, contracts, pickup, storage, or the sale of consigned items.

Consignors are also informed that submitting a request does not guarantee that any store will accept their items. The decision to accept is entirely yours based on your own criteria.

Kashew does not charge a fee for consignment matching.

How you get notified

When someone submits a consignment request, Kashew automatically notifies all dealers whose store is within 50 miles of the consignor's pickup location.

Notifications are sent via email and in-app notifications so you never miss a nearby opportunity. You will only receive notifications if:

• Your store is within 50 miles of the pickup address
• You have consignment email notifications enabled in your notification preferences
• You are on a Plus or Unlimited subscription plan

Browsing consignment requests

You can browse all consignment requests from the Consignments tab in your seller dashboard: https://www.kashew.com/seller-dashboard?tab=consignments

The tab has three views:

• Available – Open requests that haven't been accepted yet
• Accepted – Requests you have accepted
• Missed – Requests that expired or were accepted by another dealer

You can use the zip code filter to search for consignment requests near a specific location. By default, it is set to your store's zip code, but you can change it to explore requests in other areas.

Reviewing a request

Each consignment request includes:

• Photos of the item(s)
• Brand information (if provided)
• A link to the original product (if provided)
• Additional notes from the consignor
• Pickup address, distance from your store, and building details (stairs, elevator, floor)
• The consignor's contact information (name, email, phone)

Accepting or declining

If you are interested in the items, click "Accept". You can also accept multiple requests at once using the checkboxes.

If you are not interested, you can click "Decline", and the request will move to your Missed tab.

Consignment requests expire automatically. Once expired, they move to the Missed tab for all dealers.

After accepting

Once you accept a consignment request:

• The consignor is notified via email that a dealer has accepted their request
• You receive the consignor's full contact information (email and phone number)
• You and the consignor communicate directly to arrange pickup, pricing, and the consignment agreement

Kashew does not take a fee or participate in the consignment transaction. The arrangement between you and the consignor — including pricing, consignment split, pickup, and any other terms — is entirely between the two of you.

• Respond quickly – consignment requests are visible to all nearby dealers, and the first to accept gets the items
• Check the distance and building details before accepting to ensure pickup logistics work for you
• Use the zip code filter to explore requests outside your immediate area if you are willing to travel further
